Office of the Dean

Dr. Jo Rae Wright

Senior administrator in the Graduate School. Responsible for all policies and procedures in the Graduate Programs.

Cynthia Duke

Human resources manager; internal fellowship coordinator; assists with Graduate School management; schedules appointments for the Dean.

Pakis Bessias

Responsible for the Graduate School's internal computer data systems.

Enrollment Services

Bertie Belvin

Responsible for the admissions and student records functions of the Graduate School. Develops and implements policies and procedures.

Linda Roycroft

Manages the daily operations of the Admissions Office, including workflow, staff supervision and technology planning.

Jessica Crowley

Responsible for taking and responding to incoming calls and email messages, directing visitors, and processing application requests. Peforms thesis and dissertation format checks.

Joel Smith

Responsible for the setup, implementation and monitoring of automated data systems.

Jennifer Hughes

Responsible for the processing of applicant admissions data. Peforms thesis and dissertation format checks.

Elizabeth Hutton

Responsible for the processing of applicant admissions data. Peforms thesis and dissertation format checks.

Susan Williford

Audits and manages degree records and requirements; acts as liasion between Graduate School and departments regarding academic requirements and policies. Oversees JD/Masters programs; resolves registration problems.

Patricia Yonaitis

Responsible for the daily supervision and training of admission personnel. Performs thesis and dissertation format checks. Processes international student visa requests

Finance and Administration

Cynthia Robertson

Manages and oversees financial operations and reporting for the Graduate School. Serves as liaison to schools and departments regarding graduate financial aid allocations and issues of graduate awards policy. Prepares and monitors Graduate School administrative and financial aid budgets and expenditures.

Betty Jones

Manages all aspects of Graduate Financial Aid, particularly relating to federal programs and regulations. Determines eligibility and processes student loans, including emergency loans. Contact person for National Fellowships (NSF, Howard Hughes, etc.). Provides information on legislation which affects students concerning tax laws and student aid.

Ken Davis

Responsible for administration of Graduate School conference travel program. Provides assistance in managing Graduate School operations.

Christin Marten

Assists with management and oversight of graduate school endowments and departmental graduate awards budgets.

Phil Pope

Responsible for the development and implementation of data management processes, data reporting and statistical analysis .

Linda Rutt

Responsible for the payment of students on university awards. Implements payment policy and procedures for graduate students.

Graduate Student Affairs

Dr. Jacqueline Looney

Senior administrator for the Office of Graduate Student Affairs. Responsible for collaborating with graduate departments, student organizations, and other administrative units to provide services that enhance the academic, social, personal, and cultural needs of graduate students.

Lana BenDavid

Responsible for management and implementation of student programs. Also responsible for budgeting, preparing programmatic reports, providing counseling and advising of students. Acts as the disability services liaison and the harassment prevention advisor.

Walter Tallman

Responsible for managing communication networks and databases, preparing programmatic reports, assisting in the implementation of programming efforts, and serving as a liaison with University departments.

Dr. Tomalei Vess

Responsible for overseeing efforts to design, deliver, and improve services and programs that support graduate students from entry to completion of their degrees. Also responsible for daily administration and development of recruitment and retention initiatives, as well as mentoring, leadership, and professional development programs.

Academic Affairs

Dr. David F. Bell

Responsible for administration of the academic regulations of the Graduate School, particularly those involving time limitations, forming examination/advisory committees, and all disciplinary matters. He also serves as general academic advisor for students who feel the need to talk to someone outside their own graduate degree programs.

Dr. Doug L. James

Responsible for developing and coordinating professional development for graduate students in teacher training and the Responsible Conduct of Research. Teaches "Introduction to College Teaching", directs the Preparing Future Faculty program, oversees teaching workshops and mini-grant projects, and conducts research on best practices in graduate education. Available for workshops and individual consultation.

Kris Moyle

Provides administrative support to Academic Affairs; handles coordination of workshops and events; provides support to other units on various administrative projects and processes.

Judith Wittenberg

Assists with program reviews and the Executive Committee of the Graduate Faculty. Serves as web editor, DGS Manual editor and Bulletin publications coordinator.

Dr. Hugh Crumley

Responsible for developing and coordinating instructional technology training for graduate students. Teaches the course GS 301, Instructional Uses of Technology, and offers workshops and consulting on technology and teaching.

Maria Parker

Responsible for testing and placement of incoming international graduate students, program administration, and curriculum development. Teaches EIS courses and ITA training course for Pratt School of Engineering

Diane Bryson

Assists with testing, placement, program administration, and curriculum development. Teaches EIS courses.

Edith Allen

Teaches EIS courses, assists with testing.

Janet Maceda

Teaches EIS courses, assists with testing.
