Program Description

The Division of Earth and Ocean Sciences offers research opportunities in the areas of aquatic geochemistry, biogeochemistry, biological anthropology and anatomy, biological oceanography, carbonate diagenesis, clastic and carbonate facies analysis, continental margin and deep-sea sedimentation, desert studies, economic geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, igneous petrology and geochemistry focusing on layered intrusions and mid-ocean ridge basalt, isotope geochemistry, marine coastal geology, marine micropaleontology, paleoceanography, paleolimnology, paleoclimatology, palynology, physical oceanography, sediment processes and dynamics, seismology, structure and development of transform faults, rift basins, spreading centers and passive margins, and tectonics. There are excellent opportunities for research abroad.
