Program Description

The graduate program in Mathematics at Duke is characterized by the high quality of research by the faculty and their close involvement with graduate students. Areas of concentration include algebra and algebraic geometry, analysis and partial differential equations, applied mathematics and scientific computation, differential geometry, geometry and physics, mathematical biology, probability and stochastic processes, and topology. Interdisciplinary programs include the the Center for Geometric Computing, the Center for Geometry and Theoretical Physics, the Center for Hydrologic Science, the Center for Mathematics and Computation in the Life Sciences and Medicine and the Center for Nonlinear Studies. An excellent library is located next door and state-of-the-art computer facilities are located in the building.
