Professional Codes of Ethics

There are numerous professional organizations that require their members to adhere to specific codes of conduct or ethics. We will add several links in the near future. However, one useful web site is below:

Illinois Institute of Technology, Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions

This site comprises a vast database that lets you check out the following:

  1. over 850 codes of ethics gleaned from various professional societies, specific corporations, governmental agencies and academic institutions
  2. an introduction to the codes;
  3. a literature review;
  4. a user guide;
  5. an index to the codes of ethics organized by industry; and
  6. two guides for developing and using codes of ethics in organizations.

Entries of codes include the name of the organization, the date the code was verified, the website address of the code, and the full text of the code. You can even search the database by keyword.
