Durham Technical Community College
DTCC is a two-year community college located in Durham, NC. In 2001, DTCC had over 7,500 students enrolled in Associate degree programs, and over 12,000 in certificate or diploma programs to prepare students for vocational careers, technical fields or further academic study. Over 100 full-time faculty hold Master's or Ph.D. degrees.
Elon University
Elon University is a private university located 30 minutes northwest of Duke on 575 acres in the town of Elon, NC. In 2003, over 4,500 undergraduates and 150 graduate students were enrolled in 49 bachelor degree programs and three graduate programs (M.B.A., M.Ed., or doctor of physical therapy). Elon has 252 full-time and 72 part-time faculty members, with 85% holding the highest degrees in their field.
Guilford College
Guilford is a four-year liberal arts college founded in 1837 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and located 20 minutes west of Duke in Greensboro, NC. The student body includes nearly 1,000 traditional undergraduates in 41 majors or pre-professional programs, along with nearly 1,000 adult students served by nearly 85 full-time faculty of whom 90% have terminal degrees in their field.
Meredith College
Meredith College is one of the largest, private, four-year colleges for women in the Southeast located in the capital city of Raleigh, NC. Total enrollment includes almost 2,000 undergraduates in 40 majors, 150 graduate and professional students, and 250 non-degree students. Of the 140 full-time and 155 part-time professors, nearly 85% have terminal degrees in their field.
North Carolina Central University
NCCU, located in the city of Durham, is one of 16 institutions in the University of North Carolina System and was the first public liberal arts institution in the U.S. founded for African-Americans. This comprehensive university offers nearly 25 undergraduate degree programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as numerous graduate and professional programs in the School of Business, School of Education, School of Graduate Studies, School of Library and Information Sciences, Program in Nursing, Criminal Justice Program, and the School of Law. The Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute, a $12 million state-of-the-art facility, promotes the interdisciplinary study of human diseases.
