The Community Service Center (CSC) is a clearinghouse for volunteer and community service activities available to students, faculty, and employees. Through the center, members of the Duke community can become involved with student service groups and Durham area agencies. Each year, Duke volunteers engage in a wide variety of activities that include tutoring and mentoring, caring for people with AIDS, serving meals at local homeless shelters, befriending senior citizens and many more. The Community Service Center also sponsors speakers, special events, and volunteer training sessions. In these ways, the CSC strives to raise awareness of contemporary social issues, support civic engagement, and strengthen partnerships between Duke University and Durham.
