GPSC Basketball Campout 2007-2008
Welcome to Duke! Let’s get right to the most important issue on your mind: How can YOU get season tickets to this year’s men’s basketball games in Cameron Indoor Stadium?
Eligibility to purchase tickets is determined via the Graduate and Professional Student Council Basketball Ticket Campout. Campout for the 2007-2008 Duke Men's Basketball season will be held starting at 7pm on Friday, September 28, 2007 and run through Sunday, September 30, 2007 at approximately 7am. The rules are simple: make it through the weekend without missing two attendance checks and your name is entered in a lottery. Lottery winners are then drawn and each of these lucky individuals is eligible to buy one of the 700 graduate and professional season tickets.
But Campout isn’t just about basketball tickets. With almost 2000 students representing nearly every program and department at the University in attendance, this is also the premiere graduate and professional student social event of the year. Campout is an excellent opportunity to bond with your students in your own program and make friends in other programs. Don’t miss it!
Campout will be held at the corner of Wannamaker drive and Duke University Road. There is space at this location for students to set up tents or park trucks and RVs for the weekend. Students commonly form Campout groups to share the planning, lodging, expenses, and the tickets won by group members. Campers will have the opportunity to compete in the yearly basketball shootout, view classic Duke basketball games, and enjoy karaoke and DJs. In addition, the GPSC Basketball Committee will coordinate numerous community service opportunities that campers may take part in on the morning of Saturday, September 29th.
In order to participate in Campout, you must register between 9am on Monday, September 17th, and 5pm on Friday, September 21st. Registration is online at our website, http://www.gpsc.duke.edu/basketball. Please read the 2007 Basketball Ticket Distribution Policy, also located on our website, for all of the campout requirements, rules, and regulations. Additionally, town hall meetings will be held across campus during the beginning of the fall semester to answer any general Campout questions.
If you have a conflict with Campout, you may still qualify for the ticket lottery by applying for and receiving an exemption. All those wishing to apply for an exemption from any portion of the campout period must complete an exemption request form and return it to the Committee no later than 5pm on Friday, September 21st, and complete the online registration process as described above. The Basketball Committee will notify students prior to campout as to whether their exemption request was granted. Please see our website, http://www.gpsc.duke.edu/basketball or contact the exemptions committee at exemptions2007@gmail.com with questions about exemptions. Want to get involved? Each year, Campout requires a great deal of planning. Any interested graduate or professional student is welcome and encouraged to join the Basketball Committee! The Committee is a large and active group, and a great way for you to get involved in the Duke community. Much of the planning is already underway, so sign up today! Details can be found on our website.
